In 2006 I embarked on a new adventure...becoming a mom. This blog is about the pregnancy, aspects of life afterward, starting my life in a new role as mommy...and anything else in between.

Naveen got his first haircut this past Monday. It was the cutest thing! Before I comment on that, let me tell you about the adventure that we went on before getting the haircut. I found a place near us that specializes in doing children's haircuts. I made the appointment and showed up on Monday as scheduled. I saw a sign that said, "Cash or Check only." Would have been nice for them to tell me that on the phone, duh. Who the hell doesn't take credit cards?! I had a little bit of cash but not enough to cover the haircut. I asked the girl where the closest ATM was and she said I just go out the door, turn left, and it's right there on the corner. So I was like, OK no big deal. I picked up Naveen out of his carrier (I need to comment on infant carriers, but that's another post), got the camera bag w/the camera in it b/c I didn't want to leave it there, and picked up my purse. I walked outside with all of these things and Naveen in my arms thinking it's a 2 minute walk the way she made it sound. I turned right and kept walking and don't see the ATM. I keep walking and see that the freakin' ATM is a block away, catty corner from where I am. That means I have to cross the street twice to get to it. Did I mention it was 80 degrees outside and I was wearing a sweatshirt? So with Naveen and all of my bags in tow, I go to the ATM, get the money, and walk back. I was SWEATING by the time I got back to the hair place, and poor Naveen was hot and exposed to the sun b/c that DUMB girl did not tell me accurately where this ATM was. As someone who works with kids all day long, don't you think she should have told me to take the carrier or a stroller because it was a block away? AND, she should have been more accurate about how far it was. She saw me walk out holding two bags and Naveen and didn't even flinch. Stupid chick! Anyway, I was so exhausted by the time I got back, I cannot even tell you. That was my workout for the day.

Anyway, the positive side is that Naveen got the CUTEST haircut!! I've posted some pictures here. They put him in a chair that supported his back so he could sit straight (he can't sit up by himself yet). Then she put a smock on him (SO CUTE and TINY!) and cut his hair. He was so good...he sat through the whole thing without crying or anything. The hairstylist was very sweet and made sure I got to take lots of pictures. They also gave me a certificate commemorating his first haircut, along with locks of hair in a little plastic bag. I saved both in his baby book.
So that's the story of Naveen's first haircut. An adventure to say the least and a great story to tell him when he grows up! Enjoy the pics!
